An analytic BRDF for materials with spherical Lambertian scatterers

چکیده
We present a new analytic BRDF for porous materials comprised of spherical Lambertian scatterers. The has single parameter: the albedo particles. resulting appearance exhibits strong back scattering and saturation effects that height-field-based models such as Oren-Nayar cannot reproduce.

Heightfield and spatially varying BRDF Reconstruction for Materials with Interreflections
Photo-realistic reproduction of material appearance from images has widespread use in applications ranging from movies over advertising to virtual prototyping. A common approach to this task is to reconstruct the small scale geometry of the sample and to capture the reflectance properties using spatially varying BRDFs. For this, multi-view and photometric stereo reconstruction can be used, both...
متن کاملImage-based BRDF Acquisition for Non-spherical Objects
In order to create photorealistic images, we need to know how light is reflected from different materials. The bidirectional reflectance distribution functions (BRDF) plays an important role in modeling the reflectance of materials. This paper presents a framework for extracting BRDF samples from multiple photographs, which are taken from the same viewpoint but under different lighting directio...
متن کاملAn analytic model for non-spherical lenses in covariant MOND
Strong gravitational lensing by galaxies in modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND) has until now been restricted to spherically symmetric models. These models were able to account for the size of the Einstein ring of observed lenses, but were unable to account for doubleimaged systems with collinear images, as well as four-image lenses. Non-spherical models are generally cumbersome to compute numer...
متن کاملAnalytic materials.
The theory of inhomogeneous analytic materials is developed. These are materials where the coefficients entering the equations involve analytic functions. Three types of analytic materials are identified. The first two types involve an integer p. If p takes its maximum value, then we have a complete analytic material. Otherwise, it is incomplete analytic material of rank p. For two-dimensional ...
متن کاملVisibility Silhouettes for Semi-Analytic Spherical Integration
At each shade point, the spherical visibility function encodes occlusion from surrounding geometry, in all directions. Computing this function is difficult and point-sampling approaches, such as ray-tracing or hardware shadow mapping, are traditionally used to efficiently approximate it. We propose a semi-analytic solution to the problem where the spherical silhouette of the visibility is compu...
